PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
It is an important chemical product and raw material. It is mainly used as dehydrating agent and cleaning agent in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, perfumes, coatings and electronic industries. It is a determination reagent of products such as barium, calcium, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium, and barium. It is also a chromatographic reference material for the electronics industry. In many industrial and consumer products, isopropyl alcohol is used as a low-cost solvent and also as an extractant. The European Solvent Industry Group (ESIG) stated that in 2001, the demand for European intermediates accounted for 32% of the isopropyl alcohol consumption, 14% of isopropanol was used as anti-icing agent, 13% was used for paint and resin, and 9% was used for drugs, 4% for food and 3% for inks and adhesives. Isopropanol is also used as a solvent for oils and colloids, as well as in the manufacture of fishmeal feed concentrates. Low-quality isopropyl alcohol is used in automotive fuels. The amount of isopropyl alcohol used as a raw material for acetone production is decreasing. Several compounds are synthesized using isopropanol, such as methyl isobutyl ketone and many esters. Different qualities of isopropanol can be supplied depending on the end use. The conventional quality of anhydrous isopropyl alcohol is more than 99%, while the specific grade isopropyl alcohol content is more than 99.8% (for perfumes and medicines). It can be used to produce acetone, diisopropyl ether, isopropyl acetate and thymol and so on. In many cases it can be used to replace ethanol.
